West London Zone today announces Ben Bailey Smith as our first public ambassador. Having grown up in west London, the rapper, comedian, actor and author has a deep knowledge and understanding of the issues facing young people in the area today. West London Zone is delighted to join forces with Bailey Smith to work towards a west London community where all children and young people have access to the support they need to enable them to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
To launch this new partnership, award-winning journalist and broadcaster Emily Maitlis interviewed Ben Bailey Smith about his motivations for becoming an ambassador, his experiences growing up, working and living in West London and the challenges facing children and young people today, touching on the effects of Covid-19.
This interview will be the first in a series called Our west London streamed by West London Zone to inform and bring recognition to the issues that affect children and young people in the local community.
Ben Bailey Smith said: Couldn't be prouder to have been given the opportunity to become an ambassador for West London Zone. To support a charity that enables children and young people - from my area as well - to be the best they can be... it's a no brainer. There's all sorts of difficult issues and challenges facing youngsters at the moment but with the right support at the right time, I believe every one of them has the chance to fulfil their potential. A child with love, encouragement and a safe environment can achieve anything. The next generation of superheroes begins here!”

I really admire their hands-on, thoughtful support for the young people that need it most. I am so proud to be working with West London Zone to bring further awareness to their work and why it is needed.”
Louisa Mitchell, West London Zone CEO, said: “We’re so pleased to have Ben Bailey Smith on board as our first West London Zone ambassador! As a west London resident, Ben will bring a vast amount of knowledge and expertise to this role to help us speak about our work in the boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham, Brent and Westminster. We’re excited to kick off our partnership with a special interview between Ben and Emily Maitlis - Ben will be able to share his insight into this area of London and explain how the work of West London Zone is helping to tackle inequality in the borough.”
